Escape to Uyuni Salt Flats

Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday departures

Day 1: La Paz – Departure

Transfer to the station for the bus trip to Oruro, from where we take the train to Uyuni. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel. Overnight.

Day 2: Uyuni Salt Flats

We visit Incahuasi or Fish Island (because of its shape). It is located in the center of the Lake; it has limestone formations and is filled with whimsical caves and giant cactus (8 to 10 mts). After we take a snack we return to Uyuni. En route we visit the ‘Ojos de Agua’ (salt water eruptions), the town of Colchani, a workplace where the salt blocks are cut and manually removed and the iodized salt processing plant. Transfer to the station.

Day 3: La Paz – Arrival

We arrive in La Paz by noon. Transfer to the hotel.

Meals: None

Note: there is La Paz-Uyuni daily bus service, but it is not recommended because the road is not paved.
