Manu Cloud Forest

Day 1: Cusco – Manu
We depart at 6 am for our bus trip to the Private Reserve that Manu Nature protects in the Cloud Forest adjacent to Manu National Park. On our trip towards the Northeast, we pass by small Andean villages while we watch groups of llamas and alpacas shepherds in their colorful dresses. We visit the colonial town of Paucartambo, gateway to the Jungle since pre-Inca times.
We arrive at the Acjanaco Andean pass, (southern boundary of the Manu Park in the high plateau of the Andes), we enter this very special habitat trekking on a moss and lichen carpeted land. This four-hour tour will take us through the high plateau, dwarf forests and cloud forest. It is possible to see several species of ferns, lichens, bromeliads and orchids (Odontoglossum, Epidendrum Pachyphyllum, Stelis and Scaphyglotis) as well as birds of prey (Black-and- Chestnut Eagle, Mountain Caracara, Black-chest Buzzard Eagle and Puna Hawk).

Mountain Biking
This is the option to descend with very little effort the most scenic and beautiful part of the single-lane dirt road into the cloud forest. (Not included in the price)
Upon arrival to Manu Cloud Forest Lodge, we will enjoy a relaxing afternoon at the terrace. Overnight.

Day 2: Manu
Shortly before dawn, we will visit a hideout strategically located next to a ‘lek’ or place where the Cock of the Rock court. Here we can watch the national bird of the Peru spreading its brilliant red plumage, in the daily court dance to females of this species. After this demo we return to the lodge for breakfast.
Later, we travel along the Mirador trail and the beautiful scenery of the cloud forest, where we will have the opportunity if lucky to see Woolly Monkeys, Emerald Tucanetas, Torrent Duck, Golden-headed Quetzal, Gray-breasted Mountain Toucan, Amazonian Umbrella Bird, Fruit-eating Tanagers, Red-crested Cotinga and the Blue-crowned Mot-Mot, among other.
In the afternoon you can explore the unpaved road nearby. This is an opportunity to see Dusky-green Oriole, Crested Oriole, Mountain Cacique, Yellow-billed Cacique, Grass-green Tanager, Yellow-throated Tanager, or simply enjoy the profusion of plants and flowers insects and butterflies.

Rafting the Qosñipata River
Visitors of all ages can enjoy 3 hours of exciting class II and III rapids in the beautiful setting of the tropical rainforest. Lunch is served along the river course. We return to the Manu Cloud Forest Lodge early in the afternoon. (Min. 4 persons)
Return to the lodge.

Day 3: Manu – Cusco
Excursion through the dense, lush cloud forest, wading on several occasions the Union River surrounded by huge rocks and profuse vegetation.
Before noon we return to Cusco. Transfer to your hotel.
